Event Description
Lymphoedema & Lipoedema | INFORM | REFLECT | CONNECT | Print Flyer |
Northern Territory Breast Cancer Voice (NTBCV), are delighted to invite you to an upcoming professional forum focused on lymphoedema and lipoedema, being held this October as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
We are particularly excited to be welcoming Professor Neil Piller AM to Darwin for this event. Professor Piller is one of Australia’s leading experts in lymphology and is the Director of the Lymphoedema Clinical Research Unit at Flinders University. His career has spanned decades of clinical research, education and advocacy in lymphoedema and lipoedema, with particular expertise in assessment, early detection, risk reduction, treatment selection and long-term management.
His contribution to the field is recognised both nationally and internationally. Professor Piller has held senior roles across numerous lymphology organisations and professional bodies, has contributed extensively to research and clinical education, and is involved in the training of lymphoedema therapists both within Australia and internationally. In 2026, he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his significant service to lymphology as a clinician and academic.
Having someone of Professor Piller’s calibre travelling to Darwin represents a fantastic opportunity for Northern Territory health professionals to hear directly from a recognised leader in the field, particularly given the unique challenges we face in providing specialist services across regional and remote areas.
The forum is particularly relevant to health professionals working with people who have, or are at risk of developing, lymphoedema or lipoedema, including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, medical practitioners, oncology professionals, lymphoedema therapists and other allied health professionals.
We would love to see strong representation from the NT health community and encourage you to share this invitation with colleagues or professional networks who may also be interested.
